Iviani Farm Fruits and Vegetables Drying Project
Synnefa partnered with Iviani Farm, a commercial agricultural enterprise, to implement a solar-powered post-harvest drying solution aimed at improving product quality, reducing losses, and increasing operational efficiency at farm level. Prior to the intervention, Iviani Farm relied on traditional open sun drying, which exposed produce to unpredictable weather, contamination, inconsistent drying outcomes, and extended processing times. These challenges limited product quality consistency and constrained the farm’s ability to meet market requirements. Synnefa designed and deployed a farm-scale solar dryer system tailored to Iviani Farm’s production volumes and crop characteristics. The solution enabled controlled, hygienic, and faster drying, allowing the farm to preserve product quality while reducing dependence on weather conditions. Through this intervention, Iviani Farm strengthened its post-harvest handling capacity, improved product uniformity, and enhanced readiness for formal markets and value-added opportunities. Synnefa also provided training and technical support to ensure smooth adoption and long-term system performance. This project highlights Synnefa’s ability to deliver practical, scalable climate-smart technologies directly to farms—turning post-harvest management from a risk point into a value driver. Impact Highlights: 1. Reduced post-harvest losses 2. Improved drying consistency and product quality 3. Faster processing times 4. Increased resilience to weather variability Enhanced market readiness Why It Matters The Iviani Farm project demonstrates how Synnefa supports farmers and agribusinesses to upgrade post-harvest systems, improve margins, and operate more sustainably—without increasing energy costs.
